Market Publishers Calls for Participation in Water Security Summit: Asia 2014 in Malaysia28 Feb 2014 • by Natalie Aster
LONDON – Market Publishers Ltd is glad to call for participation in the Water Security Summit: Asia 2014, due to take place on the 23rd & 24th April 2014, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Water security is at risk, and it has grown into an important concern and crucial necessity for sustained development in the Asia-Pacific region. The increasing damaging effects of droughts, flooding, urbanisation, uncontrolled releases of toxins into natural waters, groundwater extraction and climatic variations have raised public awareness and alarm across the region. The ever booming population demands more natural resources for basic needs like hygiene, drinking, and farming. Current water planning and management solutions have failed to be adequate in regard to humans’ soaring demands for water.
The Water Security Summit: Asia 2014 is targeted to providing a leading-edge platform for a fruitful cooperation among stakeholders in the water security and sanitation domain to increase awareness of the dangers the Asia-Pacific world is coping with.
Hosted by the Aid & International Development Forum (AIDF) and the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP), this innovative two-day Summit is targeted to bringing the public’s attention to the ever-escalating issues relating to ecological sustainability, water and resources management, and economic opportunity to the foreground of agendas in an engaged environment.
This year’s Conference is set to draw together more than 300 regional professionals and thought leaders in the water management sector, comprising policy makers, development agencies, researchers, non-government organisations, and the private sector participants, to compare ideas on making water governance better and elaborating sustainable solutions.
