European Road Freight Transport Sector Examined by Ti in New Report Available at MarketPublishers.com18 Dec 2013 • by Natalie Aster
LONDON – In 2012, the European road freight market registered a 0.7% YoY decline and shrank by nearly 0.3% in 2013. Such decline was provoked mainly by the decelerating economic growth in the North European nations, especially in Germany. In spite of the weak market state, Eastern Europe witnessed positive growth in the past few years. Meanwhile, the Netherlands emerged as the best performing country on strong intra-EU trade. The European international road freight segments recorded a 1.6% increase in 2012, but it was not enough to compensate declines in straggling domestic trucking markets.
The performance of Europe’s market for road freight is expected to improve in the upcoming years. The market is poised to exhibit a 2.3% CAGR through 2016 due to the continuous recovery of the European economy. Nevertheless, the market is unlikely to reach its peak of 2008 and recover to the levels of 2008 by the end of 2016.
