BAE Systems plc Announces New Contract According to BAC Company Report

LONDON – BAE Systems is to upgrade 70 onboard missile systems for Royal Saudi Air Force, which will cost GBP 224 M to the buyer. The upgraded digital electronic warfare system (DEWS) will carry advanced radar, countermeasure opportunities, situational awareness, and targeting system. Warner Robins Air Logistics Center will be receiving the DEWS in Saudi Arabia in late 2018.
BAE Systems was less successful in 2011 than in 2010. Revenue fell back to GBP 17.8 B, gross profit went down 6.3% to GBP 12 B, operating income lost 1.3% and amounted GBP 1.6 B, net income, however, was able to increase by 17.9% and reach GBP 1.24 B. The decline in sales can be explained by increased cost of Salam Typhoon programme and lower level of manufacturing activities.
Last quarter ended December 2011 did not bring any significant changes: sales amounted GBP 9.9 B, gross profit equaled GBP 9.1 B, operating and net income were GBP 823 and GBP 762 M, respectively. Most of the revenues were brought by three major customers, which are UK Ministry of Defence, US Department of Defense and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Ministry of Defence and Aviation.
