LONDON – Last 2011 year was very fruitful for China’s aluminum wheel hub manufacturers, whose main export destinations were U.S., Russia, Germany and the UAE, of which, the U.S. market occupied around half of total shares. The wheel export of China reached a record high of USD 4.382 billion last year, of which aluminium and steel wheels climbed to USD 3.886 billion and USD 696 million respectively, both setting new records.
In spite of the fact that the overall Chinese automotive market was sluggish last year, the luxury car sector boomed, seeing the considerably increased export of aluminum wheel hubs to Germany. Although the European Union charged anti-dumping duties on aluminum wheel hub made in China, Chinese companies were still competitive. Thus, CITIC Dicastal, with a main focus on exports to Germany, realized export value of USD 417 million in 2011, up 20.9% from USD 345 million in 2010.
