Norsat International Inc. Establishes Power Solutions According to BAC Company Report

LONDON – Beginning of February Norsat International Inc announces its new business division, Norsat Power Solutions. The division will be developing and delivering energy storage and power conversion solutions for high-integrity applications, complementary products for other business divisions at Norsat (like DC-DC converters or power supplies). This new division will allow Norsat expand into new product markets and diversify their offering to regular customers. Sinclair division’s headquarters, Aurora, Ontario plant became a nest for Norsat Power Solutions.
Norsat financial performance was idle in 2011. Income drops in middle periods was offset by Q3 results. Comparing to end of FY 2010, September 2011 delivered USD 11.4 M of revenues, USD 1.3 M of operating income, USD 1.1 M of net income, 9.6% of profit margin. Acquisition of Sinclair division and launch of Power Solutions gives confidence in future of the company, and this is important to shareholders.
Annual results of the company are not strong: 2010 was a definite setback for Norsat. Revenue down 4.7% to USD 20.2 M, gross profit down 8.6% to USD 9.6 M, operating income down 22.2% to USD 2.8 M, net income down 54.3% to USD 2.1 M. these results nearly copy 2008 numbers, making 2009 the most successful year for the company to the date. 2011 tends to show significantly higher values than 2010 in all positions – except for net income. Recovery of this index awaits Norsat in 2012.

Moreover, the company produces and retails microwave products, satellite terminals, antenna and RF conditioning products, power conversion and storage systems.
