Agrana Beteiligungs AG Reports Strong H1 Results According to BAC Report

LONDON – In October Agrana Beteiligungs announced its Q2 and H1 results, both being positive. In Q2 revenue and net income grew by 26.1% and 98.9% respectively. In H1 therefore the indicators amounted to EUR 1284.7 M and EUR 77.7 M, which a 19.7% and 107.8% increase, respectively.
Key drivers for company’s success in FY 2010/11 are:
In sugar segment:
- World sugar market price is higher than European levels
- Deficit strikes European market, price rises
- Volumes of sold sugar also rise
In starch segment:
- Strong demand drives all markets
- All core and by-products increase their starch consumption
- Bioethanol is profitable
In fruit segment:
- Agrana is a global leader in fruit preparations
- Juice fruit concentrates business improves further
The outlook for Agrana:
In sugar segment:
- Increasing demand from Southeastern and Central Europe
- Further price and volumes growth
In starch segment:
- Sales are stable
- Raw material and energy costs are challenging
- Further operating profit improvement
In fruit segment:
- Improving volumes and selling prices push operating profit higher
- Agrana invests in promising emerging markets: South Africa, Egypt, Russia and China
