Epistar Corporation Improves RED LED Chips According to BAC Report

LONDON – In October Epistar announced invention of high voltage & 2V LED chips with superior efficacy record, improved CRI and better lm/$. The company had to develop certain technologies to achieve this, like:
- new transparent substrate transfer process
- lower MQW light absorption
- fine structure for increasing photon extraction efficiency
- improvement on the current spreading uniformity.
Epistar plans to further develop its technologies and provide better lighting solutions.
Company’s financial performance is uneven. In Q4 2010 and Q2 2011 indices show growth while in Q1 and Q3 2011 they fall back. Q3 results are poor, with revenue and net income amounting to TWD 4863 M and TWD 12.5 M respectively (compare to Q2: TWD 6803.6 M and TWD 738 M respectively). Annual results are strong, though. In FY 2010 revenue and net income increased by 62.6% and 232.9% respectively, and reached TWD 20888.1 M and TWD 5766.3 M. the outlook is positive.
Founded in 1996 and headquartered in Hsinchu (Taiwan), Epistar Corporation engages in design, production and distribution of LED wafers and chips. The company manufactures aluminum gallium indium phosphide wafers and chips, indium gallium nitride wafers and chips, gallium arsenide phosphide chips, aluminum gallium arsenide wafers and chips of different colors. Application areas: outside lighting, backlights, LED displays, automotive. Since 2001 Epistar trades at Taiwan Stock Exchange under the ticker 2448.
