Samtel India Ltd. Creates a JV According to BAC Report

LONDON – At the beginning of 2011 Samtel India and Thales Avionics announced the incorporation of their joint venture Samtel Thales Avionics Ltd. this new company will bring Avionics solutions to Indian market. The example is Helmets Mounted Sight & Display (HMSD), which are now being developed, produced, sold and maintained in India. The venture is also capable to gain volumes and do exports of its products. However, key consumers of the technology are Indian Forces’ fighters and helicopters. In future Samtel Thales Avionics will engage in production and servicing for aerospace and military.
Samtel India experienced financial difficulties in the last year. The demand for color picture tubes declined, and profits were affected. Samtel is seeking the opportunities to switch to other business activities, like manpower consulting or supplies. This direction looks prospective and profitable in the future, as more and more companies turn to outsourcing to cut the costs.
As for numbers, Samtel has not generated revenues for the last year. However, it constantly faces net losses. Thus, in Q2 2011 they amounted INR (0.8) M, and in Q3 2011 – INR (0.9) M.
Founded in 1973 and headquartered in New Delhi (India), Samtel India is a manufacturer of display systems and its components for TV. Its product range includes COLOR PICTURE TUBES (CPT) and DEFLECTION YOKES (DYs). Samtel trades at Bombay Stock Exchange under the ticker SAME.BO.
