Fortis Healthcare Limited Ltd. Benefits from Cost Advantage According to BAC Report

LONDON – Fortis Healthcare top management has shown remarkable business skills in the last decade. From just one Indian hospital in 2011 the company evolved into pan-Indian hospital network of 66 clinics. Now Fortis looks wider – apart from winning over domestic market, the company penetrates international medical services field.

Indian hospitals have an advantage over developed countries related to medical costs and prices. For example, price for heart surgery in USA comprises USD 100 K, in UK this number is USD 42 K, Thailand and Singapore offer this service for USD 14 K and USD 15 K respectively. In India heart surgery costs USD 6 K – and it is an obvious attraction for medical tourists not only from Asian of African countries, but also for Americans or Europeans. Fortis’ pricing policy plays major role in both attracting foreign patients and expanding in other countries.

To enhance its competitive strength, two days ago Fortis Healthcare India announced its intention to purchase Fortis  Healthcare  International. The deal is to be complete in mid-December 2011. This acquisition will grant the company an advantage over competitors in Asia Pacific region.

Company financial performance is strong. FY ended March 2011 showed revenue and net income reaching INR 19417.2 M and INR 1253.9 M respectively. This is 96.7% and 80.4% growth comparing to FY ended March 2010. Four-year increase in the indices amounted to 254.3% and 325.5% respectively.

Founded in 1996 and headquartered in New Delhi (India), Fortis Healthcare engages in provision of healthcare services in India. It operates 66 hospitals in 16 states and plans on entering international market.
