Since 2000, these installations have grown at 35% CAGR reaching 40 GW in 2010, and forecasts say the market will reach 400 GW by 2020. The PV inverters market, which is currently valued between USD 5.5-5.8billion, is expected to reach USD 7.5 billion by 2015.

The majority of the installations are centered in EU countries, with Germany, Italy, Czech Republic, Spain, France, Belgium and Greece constituting the major share. However, over the next ten years, there is expected to be a shift in PV growth markets to the non-EU countries of North America (US and Canada) and Asia, led by China and India.
