MAG.LAYERS Scientific-Technics Co.,Ltd. Needs to Develop New Chips According to BAC Report

LONDON - Today all electronic devices demand high frequency and speed from communication networks. Mobile wireless communications evolve to 2GHz, short-range wireless data exchange systems go up to 5.8GHz. More and more high-speed digital circuit products demand optical transmission rate to rise from 2.5Gbps to 10Gbps. Traditional magnetic inductors are limited by their material characteristics, they cannot significantly increase frequency or speed. That’s where ceramic materials come out. Mag.Layers should focus on increasing frequency and speed rates for its product lines. According the research conducted by A*STAR Institute, recently invented new ceramic chips exhibits stable performance in the required spectrum. Therefore Mag.Layers is on the threshold of new product development. The company is to fully research this new opportunity of chip improvement, and bring new technology into production.
Company’s financial performance is ambiguous. In Q2 2011 revenue increased by 4.5% comparing to the previous period. On the other hand, the number showed a 5.3% decline comparing to Q2 2010. Net income is in year stagnation, with a drop from TWD 135.1 M in Q2 2010 to TWD 18.4 M in Q2 2011.
On the other hand, annual results look brilliant. Revenue and net income in 2010 reflected a rapid growth by 40.2% and 46.2% respectively, and amounted to TWD 2476.8 M and TWD 436.9 M. Four-year trend shows constant increase in main indices.
Founded in 1990 and headquartered in Hsin-Chu (Taiwan), Mag.Layers engages in design, manufacture and distribution of multilayer chip and coil components (like diplexers, wave filters, chip antennas, couplers, chip inductors and high frequency chip inductors). Company’s products find their application in wireless Bluetooth modules, mobile phones, wireless digital TVs and filters. In 2008 Mag.Layers went public and registered at GreTai Securities Market.
