LONDON - The report of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate change (IPCC), released recently in Spain, concluded a great threat to the environment. IPCC has articulated the threat to environment due to green-house gas emissions in much less uncertain terms than it ever did previously. It said that the Earth may turn unlivable far sooner than humanity presumed, unless the carbon emissions are controlled and rationalized. In fact 97% of respondents in emerging countries, including in India, favor such buying practices compared to 73% of respondents in Europe. People are ready to pay more for greener products and services in order to benefit from lower carbon emissions (though these benefits cannot be easily measured by the average person). 64% of the respondents said they would be willing to pay a higher price a premium of 11%, on an average-for products and services that produce lower greenhouse gas emissions.
