Arrow Coated Ltd Aims to Lead in Bio-Degradable Film According to BAC Report24 Aug 2011 • by Natalie Aster
LONDON - The report of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate change (IPCC), released recently in Spain, concluded a great threat to the environment. IPCC has articulated the threat to environment due to green-house gas emissions in much less uncertain terms than it ever did previously. It said that the Earth may turn unlivable far sooner than humanity presumed, unless the carbon emissions are controlled and rationalized. By 2015 India is going to be the third largest carbon polluter in the world, which means going three positions up from current sixth place. Countries like China and India cannot keep themselves aloof from this problem.
A recent Accenture survey found out that 90% consumers worldwide would switch to energy products and services with lower greenhouse gas emissions. In fact 97% of respondents in emerging countries, including in India, favor such buying practices compared to 73% of respondents in Europe. People are ready to pay more for greener products and services in order to benefit from lower carbon emissions (though these benefits cannot be easily measured by the average person). 64% of the respondents said they would be willing to pay a higher price a premium of 11%, on an average-for products and services that produce lower greenhouse gas emissions.
That’s why the need for Bio-Compostable film and Bio-Degradable film to save the environment is rising now. With new regulations on exports of garments on China being imposed by EU and USA, along with anti-dumping duties this business is coming to India and neighbor countries. India meanwhile has built huge capacities in composite garment manufacturing units, and the demand for Embroidery film will show an uptrend in the future. That’s where Arrow Coated Products can catch their fortune.
The company has a wide product portfolio that meets the eco requirements. It operates three segments in this direction: Water Soluble Film, Bio Compostable and Arrow OxyFresh Film. Arrow Embossed Water Soluble Films suit for solving embroidery process problems. Bio-Compostable Products contain Reusable Catering Products and Packaging materials used by hotels, airlines and at homes. Arrow OxyFresh Films extend package freshness, provide high gas permeability, and are degradable. Arrow Coated Prodcuts correspond to the modern society needs and have a great potential for massive expansion in Asian region.
Company’s financial performance is still non-demonstrative. Founded in 2002, Arrow Coated is still in the development stage, accumulating patents, technologies, and professional staff. Last year financial results show an increasing trend: revenues and net incomes grew by 62% and 84% to INR 35.3 M and INR (1.3) M respectively. Quarterly financials are volatile and cannot correctly reflect company’s financial strength. Arrow Coated is expected to generate profits in the next four years.
Arrow Coated Products Limited is and Indian-based company engaged in production of water soluble films for various needs. The company operates in six business segments: bio-degradable products division, security products, digital technology enabled products, intellectual property rights (IPR) SBU, arrow export SBU and arrow pharma foray. It has three subsidiaries: Avery Bio-Tech, Nagra ID Arrow Secure Cards and SP Arrow Bioplast.
