Café de Coral to Massively Expand in South China and Hong Kong in 2011 According to BAC Report

LONDON – Hong Kong based restaurant chain Café de Coral recently announced its intention to have added 50 to 60 more operating units by the end of this year, including 35 in South China and 25 in Hong Kong. South China now has 89 restaurants open, and adding 35 more will mean a 39% increase in number of units! In Hong Kong current amount of cafes amounts 204 places, and adding 25 more will be a 12% raise.
Chairman Michael Yue-Kwong Chan said that South China chain currently accounts for 10% of the total income, and those 35 new units are a contribution into company’s goal to have 200 restaurants operating by 2015. South China chain is planned to accumulate 20% of the total income.
Although South China chain operates as an independent structure, it is funded from Group’s internal funds. The Group’s present financial position continues to be very strong, with indices going up. The Group does not have any external borrowing and maintains a healthy gearing.
Four-year trend shows increase in revenues and net incomes by 24.5% and 22.2% respectively. According to 2011 financial year results, Café de Coral revenue achieved HKD 5332.6 M, and net income totaled HKD 514.3 M.
Founded in 1968, Café de Coral is now the largest Chinese fast-food restaurant chain in Asian region, with about 600 operating units. Company brands are: The Spaghetti House, Oliver’s Super Sandwiches, Super Congee & Noodles, Espressamente illy, 360 Series, Mix, Café de Coral Fast Food, Manchu Wok, Asia Pacific Catering. The Group also engages in Food processing and distribution under the brands Denny's and Scanfoods.
