Production and Market of Polyvinylpolypyrrolidone in China/
Polyvinylpolypyrrolidone (PVPP) is a highly cross-linked modification of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), thus it’s insoluble in water though it still absorbs water and swells very rapidly which generates a swelling force. This property makes it useful as a disintegrant in troche and as a filler in granule and capsule. PVPP is also used as a fining to extract impurities in wines and juices in the process of production.
In China, PVPP has been used as a stabilizer and clarifying agent in beer production by some large-scale producers to remove polyphenols since the early twenty-first century. Having been added in Chinese Pharmacopoeia (Version 2010) in 2010 as a pharmaceutical adjuvant, PVPP is also used in pharmaceutical industry, mainly in troche as a disintegrant.
As a stabilizer, PVPP has an edge of outstanding stabilization function over its competitors such as silica gel, tannic acid and papain. As a disintegrant, PVPP also has the most excellent disintegrant ability among disintegrants.
Industrial affairs:
Thanks to the ever increasing output of beer and pharmaceuticals in China, the output of PVPP has been rising in recent years; however, the growth speed is slow. In 2013, China’s total output of PVPP has increased to 1,545 tonnes from 1,508 tonnes in 2009, achieving a CAGR of about 1%. However, the capacity of PVPP has kept stable at about 2,850t/a from 2009 to now.
Basically, PVPP is supplied by PVP producers in China currently, and the producers are mainly distributed in Henan Province, Zhejiang Province and Shandong Province. Specially, in Henan Province, there is China's first and largest PVP producer, namely Boai NKY.
China’s position:
As PVPP hasn’t been popularized in its downstream industries in China, and is supported by the fast development of PVPP production technology, China’s PVPP is mainly for export, with the export volume taking up about 70%. China has been a key PVPP supplier in the world market.
Purpose of report:
- Figure out PVPP production and consumption
- Reveal PVPP producers’ production situation and price trend
- Unfold the development trend of PVPP industry in China
- Find more investment opportunities
- Global PVPP manufacturers who want to know the production information of their competitors in China, or who want to enter the domestic market in China
- International traders
- Purchasers of PVPP
- Production/sales managers of PVPP
- Academic institutions who are interested in PVPP research
- Investors who take interest in China and global PVPP products
The report introduces the production and consumption of PVPP through the following aspects:
- PVPP production during 2009- 2013
- Major producers of PVPP in China
- PVPP price and its trend during 2012-Aug. 2014
- Consumption of PVPP in China during 2009-2013
- Production and consumption forecast during 2014-2018
Though the consumption volume of PVPP in domestic market is still small, it has been increasing in recently years. With the increasing demand for PVPP at home and abroad, PVPP output will continue to increase slowly.
Value to client:

With increasing demand for PVPP from downstream industries, the output of PVPP has been on the rise in China these years. Nevertheless, the growth rate of PVPP is XXXX in China. China's PVPP output has XXXX from XXXX tonnes in 2009 to about XXXX tonnes in 2013, with CAGR of less than XXXX%. On the one hand, China's demand for PVPP is still XXXX. Though PVPP has been permitted by the Chinese government in food production as well as pharmaceutical production, there are many substitutes competing with PVPP in China. And most of the PVPP produced in China is XXXX. On the other hand, some shares of China's PVPP have been held by XXXX PVPP. Compared with PVPP from foreign developed countries, China's PVPP is weak in quality and some high-end downstream product producers in China usually turn to foreign PVPP instead of domestic ones.
