Visiongain: Can you tell us briefly about some of the major military simulation, modelling and virtual training applications programmes that CAE is currently involved in?

CAE’s Kim-Tuan Nguyen: CAE is a global leader in simulation, modelling and training for Defence and Security, with a diverse range of training products and services offering. We are strategically positioned in 8 key regions and 90% of our business is international. Types of programs for which CAE is involved in (but not limited to) include:

• Provision of training devices to Militaries worldwide for major platforms such as C-130, H-60, P-8, NH90, M346, CH47, EH-101, A109 and others

• Provision of training services on major platforms in key markets such as the US, UK, Germany, Italy, India, Asia.

• Provision of holistic end-to-end turnkey training solutions such as the Canadian C-130J and CH-47 Operational Training Service Provider (OTSP)

Impact of Defence Spending Cuts on Simulation and Virtual Training

Visiongain: Given defence spending cuts in several countries, especially in Europe and North America, is this having negative or positive impact on the military simulation, modelling and virtual training industry?

CAE’s Kim-Tuan Nguyen: There are actually two drivers here. Defence spending cuts will translate into less platform procurement which will in turn impact demand for military simulation, modelling and virtual training solutions.
