The term ‘LiDAR’ is an acronym for Light Detection and Ranging, which has been derived from the common term ‘RADAR’. LiDAR technology has been around in the military and research circles since the early XXs. A typical LiDAR system mainly consists of three major components:- a laser sensor, a Global Positioning System (GPS) unit, and an inertial navigation unit.
