On May 8, 2009, Finnair Oyj announced that with its oneworld alliance partner Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd., it is to start code-share flights between Hong Kong and Brisbane in Australia. Finnair flies to Hong Kong daily with Airbus A340 aircraft. Now Finnair can also sell Cathay Pacific operated flights with Finnair flight numbers to Brisbane. Cathay Pacific can sell tickets with its own flight number to Finnair flights from Paris, Rome, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and London as a connection to its own flights to Australia.
On September 16, 2009, BOC Aviation has signed an agreement with Cathay Pacific Airways for the purchase and leaseback of six Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
