Upstream, III-V semiconductor substrate and epitaxy suppliers provide InP wafers, epitaxial structures, photoresists, metals, and precision fabrication equipment such as MOCVD, lithography, and etching systems, along with testing and packaging materials; midstream, EML device makers design, grow, fabricate, and process laser-modulator chips and assemble them into TOSA or transmitter components with RF drivers and optical interfaces through advanced packaging and screening; downstream, optical module vendors integrate EML components into high-speed transceivers and active cables that are deployed by telecom operators, hyperscale data centers, and enterprise network builders for high-capacity optical transmission links.

Projects under construction and planned mainly include new InP epitaxy and EML chip fabrication lines, capacity expansions for 50G and 100G per-lane EML platforms targeting 400G and 800G optical modules, localized supply chain projects for EML chips and TOSA packaging in Asia, advanced co-packaged optics transmitter development programs, upgrades toward higher yield wafer-level processing and automated optical alignment, and joint ventures between chip makers and module vendors to secure high-speed optical engine capacity, with emphasis on data center interconnect, AI cluster networking, and next-generation metro and long-haul transmission upgrades.
