Despite this, they command a premium in the semiconductor and chemical industries due to their superior chemical resistance (withstanding strong corrosive media such as concentrated sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid, and halogens), and are typically 3-5 times more expensive than PVC/PP valves. Furthermore, spring-loaded check valves, due to the added metal spring and precision valve seat machining, cost 20-30% more than ball/swing check valves, but offer the added value of installation in any position and water hammer protection.
