Colloidal Palladium Activator is a palladium-based activation chemical used for the pretreatment of plastic plating, PCB hole metallization, and electroless plating of special non-conductive substrates. Its typical system is a palladium-tin colloidal system. Its main function is to form trace palladium catalytic active sites on the substrate surface, enabling subsequent autocatalytic deposition reactions such as electroless copper plating and electroless nickel plating to start smoothly. Since plastics, PCB hole walls, ceramics, glass, and other materials do not have good electrical conductivity and cannot be directly electroplated, Colloidal Palladium Activator is a key pretreatment material in non-conductive substrate metallization processes, usually used together with etching, predip, acceleration, or decolloidization steps.

Its upstream raw materials mainly include palladium salts, stannous chloride, hydrochloric acid, chloride salts, complexing agents, stabilizers, dispersants, surfactants, and deionized water. Among them, colloidal palladium stability, palladium adsorption efficiency, palladium concentration in the working solution, impurity resistance, and catalytic activity after acceleration are the core indicators of product performance. Downstream applications mainly include plastic plating, consumer electronics, PCB manufacturing, and non-conductive substrate metallization. Typical scenarios include electroplating of automotive plastic decorative parts, electroplating of sanitary plastic parts, PCB through-hole electroless copper deposition, metallization of electronic plastic housings, and surface metallization of ceramics and composite materials. With the development of lightweight automotive decorative parts, functional surface treatment for electronic products, high-density PCB interconnection, and environmentally upgraded electroplating processes, Colloidal Palladium Activator continues to maintain strong application value in pretreatment for non-conductive substrate metallization.
