The supply chain begins upstream with raw materials such as polymer binders (acrylics, silicones, fluoropolymers), infrared-emissive fillers and pigments (aluminum oxide, titanium dioxide, silicon dioxide, calcium carbonate, polymer microspheres), and additives for durability and weather resistance; moves through midstream formulation and manufacturing, where coating producers design optical spectra, disperse fillers, and produce water-based or solvent-based paints, films, or membranes; and ends downstream with applicators and end users in buildings, cold-chain logistics, vehicles, energy systems, and industrial equipment, where the coatings are applied to roofs, facades, tanks, or devices to reduce cooling loads, improve energy efficiency, and mitigate urban heat effects.
