Thulium-doped fiber lasers (TDFLs) have gained widespread attention in recent decades for applications in medicine, spectroscopy, remote sensing, material processing, and frequency conversion, especially in the 2 ?m wavelength range. The Tm??-doped silica fibers have a gain bandwidth from 1.8 to 2.1 ?m, making TDFLs ideal for mid-infrared coherent light sources and mode-locked lasers for ultrashort pulses.
