Subsea production manifolds are subsea manifold and fluid-control units installed in subsea production systems to gather, isolate, regulate, monitor and route produced oil, gas, water and associated fluids from multiple subsea wells to subsea flowlines, risers or topside processing facilities.

The upstream supply chain includes offshore-grade steel, forgings, heavy-wall pipes, subsea valves, actuators, connectors, seals, ROV interfaces, cathodic protection systems, coatings, sensors, hydraulic/electrical control interfaces and NDT services.Downstream customers are international oil companies, national oil companies and deepwater field operators. Production manifolds are project-based, highly customized and certification-intensive assets.

In 2025, global subsea production manifolds production reached approximately 200 units, with an average global market price is between $10-15 million per unit.

From a global industry perspective, subsea production manifolds have become core connection nodes in subsea oil and gas development and subsea tieback systems. Their core value lies in commingling produced fluids from multiple subsea wells or trees into one or more production flowlines, thereby reducing the number of subsea pipelines and risers, optimizing well-cluster layouts, lowering subsea system complexity and improving centralized production management. SLB explains that in multi-well subsea developments, jumpers carry produced fluids from individual wells to a subsea production manifold, where the fluids are commingled before being directed into a flowline leading to the production platform. Therefore, subsea production manifolds differ from ordinary onshore or platform production manifolds because they must operate reliably under high external pressure, low temperature, corrosive fluids, limited human intervention and long-term subsea service while working together with subsea trees, jumpers, umbilical control systems, flowmeters, valves and shutdown systems.

Traditional production manifolds mainly performed gathering and switching functions, while modern subsea production systems increasingly emphasize multi-well centralized management, long-distance tiebacks, flow assurance, sand-erosion control, hydrate and wax-deposition risk management, sour-service corrosion resistance and ROV operability. A subsea manifold is commonly defined as an arrangement of piping and valves designed to combine, distribute, control and monitor fluid flow in subsea oil and gas systems, and it can be used for production gathering or injection distribution; API RP 17P also provides recommended practice for subsea structures and manifolds, showing that these systems must be designed, manufactured, tested and operated within recognized industry-standard frameworks. As subsea production moves into deepwater, ultra-deepwater and marginal-field developments, monitoring of pressure, temperature, valve position, flow, corrosion and leakage is shifting from an auxiliary feature into a key part of improving production efficiency and reducing operating risk.

The main growth drivers come from three areas. First, deepwater oil and gas, subsea tiebacks, marginal-field developments and floating production systems continue to require highly reliable subsea production gathering equipment to reduce platform requirements, simplify pipeline architecture and improve development economics. Second, subsea maintenance is costly and operating windows are limited; failures in manifold valves, seals, connection interfaces or control modules can affect an entire well cluster or tieback system, so operators place greater emphasis on redundancy, remote control, ROV accessibility and long-term reliability. Third, oil and gas development is moving toward digitalization, lower maintenance and lifecycle cost optimization, pushing subsea production manifolds from standalone mechanical pipework toward system-level subsea production units integrating production gathering, flow management, condition monitoring, safety isolation and integrity management.
