Steam energy management refers to a systematic monitoring, control, and optimization approach for the entire process of steam generation, distribution, use, and recovery in industrial production. It achieves efficient utilization and reduced loss of steam energy through energy efficiency analysis and scheduling of boiler operation, pipeline transportation, steam-using equipment, and condensate recovery. Its core objective is to improve energy efficiency, reduce operating costs, and decrease carbon emissions while ensuring production needs are met. The upstream of the steam energy management industry chain mainly includes suppliers of equipment and components such as boilers and combustion equipment, valves and pipelines, steam flow meters, temperature and pressure sensors, controllers, and industrial software. The midstream consists of steam energy management system providers and energy-saving service providers, responsible for system integration, data monitoring platform construction, energy efficiency optimization scheme design, and operation and maintenance services; this is the core value link of the industry chain. The downstream mainly consists of high-energy-consuming industrial users such as chemical, paper, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, power, and textile industries. In terms of gross profit margin, the upstream general equipment and components segment is highly competitive, with gross profit margins typically ranging from 10% to 25%. The midstream segment, which involves system integration, software platforms, and energy-saving renovation services, has higher added value and gross profit margins generally ranging from 25% to 50%, with digital and energy management software services having even higher gross profit margins. Downstream companies are energy-saving and cost-reduction oriented, and their benefits are mainly reflected in the reduction of energy costs rather than direct profits.

Steam energy management is gradually transforming from traditional equipment energy conservation to digital and systematic optimization. Its core is no longer just improving the efficiency of individual equipment, but rather coordinating and optimizing the entire process from steam production to transmission and distribution, consumption, and recovery.
