Magnesium-based solid-state hydrogen storage offers high theoretical capacity and long-distance storage potential, but release temperature, kinetics and thermal integration remain commercialization challenges. Future competition will not be based only on storage materials; it will depend on the integrated capability to combine materials, storage vessels, heat management, hydrogen release control, fuel cell matching, power electronics and application engineering.
