Quantum battery technology refers to an emerging class of energy-storage and energy-management devices that use quantum-mechanical effects to absorb, store, retain and release energy. The scope of this study focuses on device concepts, prototype systems, enabling materials and research platforms based on quantum coherence, superposition, entanglement, superabsorption, superradiance and strong light?matter coupling. Typical physical implementations include organic microcavities, quantum dots and inorganic nanostructures, perovskite-related platforms, superconducting quantum circuits and qubit-based architectures. The core value proposition lies in faster charging, more efficient energy transfer, low-interference power management and potential integration with quantum computing, microelectronics, sensors, wireless charging and future high-rate energy systems.

At the current stage, the industry should not be measured as a conventional battery-cell market; pricing is more appropriately assessed through prototype R&D contracts, customised experimental devices, enabling material supply and early-stage technology licensing rather than standardised cell-level ASP.

Based on our research, quantum batteries should be understood as a pre-commercial quantum energy-storage technology rather than a sub-segment of conventional electrochemical batteries. The industry is currently defined by laboratory-scale prototypes, quantum thermodynamics, advanced materials platforms and device-level proof-of-concept work. Its decisive technical variables are quantum-state lifetime, scalable light?matter coupling, usable energy extraction, device stability and system integration, rather than cell manufacturing capacity or battery-pack cost.
