A typical embedded vacuum OLTC consists of vacuum interrupters, selector and diverter contacts, tap winding terminations, insulating support structures, mechanical drive and an external motor-drive mechanism. It can perform line-end or neutral-end tap changes over multiple steps, and is widely used in medium- and high-voltage distribution transformers, grid power transformers, industrial and rail-traction transformers, and step-up transformers in wind and solar plants. As such, it is a key component for voltage regulation and reactive-power control in modern, highly reliable and automated power systems.In the value chain, embedded vacuum OLTCs sit in the midstream between ?electrical materials and vacuum components? and ?tap-changer design and manufacturing ? transformer assembly and grid application.? Upstream, they rely on suppliers of high-conductivity copper, silver or CuCr contact materials, electrical steel, epoxy and thermoset insulation components, transformer oil and sealing elements, as well as manufacturers of vacuum interrupters and sensing/control components.
