Precision benchtop and portable instruments emphasize resolution, accuracy, thermal-EMF suppression, temperature compensation, measurement speed, low-power resistance modes and automated interfaces. Both routes rely on four-terminal Kelvin measurement, but differ substantially in current-source design, heat dissipation, protection, noise filtering, duty cycle and software. Consequently, the broad supplier pool contains many electrical-test companies, while the core formal list is restricted to companies with clearly documented dedicated instruments and credible manufacturing or product-development evidence.

The global supply structure is fragmented and regionally specialized. Europe has the densest concentration of dedicated suppliers, with established manufacturers in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Poland and Slovenia.
