Centrifugal Cell Harvesters are laboratory instruments designed to separate and collect cells from a liquid suspension through the process of centrifugation. The device typically consists of a rotor, sample chambers, and a motor - driven spinning mechanism. The sample containing cells in a liquid medium is placed in the sample chambers. When the harvester is activated, the rotor spins at high speed. Centrifugal force generated during the rotation causes the denser cells to move towards the outer part of the sample chamber and form a pellet at the bottom, while the supernatant (the liquid portion without the cells) remains above. This allows for the efficient collection of cells for further analysis such as in cell culture studies, microbiology, and biomedical research.
