Downstream customers include hospital pathology departments, clinical laboratories, hematology departments, maternal and child health institutions, independent clinical laboratories and research institutes. On an ex-factory basis, global nominal capacity in 2025 is estimated at about 42,000 units, with actual sales volume of approximately 29,360 units and a blended average ex-factory price of around USD 19,000 per unit. Industry gross margin is generally estimated at 38%?58%.

The current market demand is mainly driven by automation upgrades in cytology, hematology laboratories and clinical testing workflows. Hospitals and independent clinical laboratories increasingly require consistent smear quality, better sample traceability and reduced manual handling, which supports the gradual replacement of manual smear preparation by automated or semi-automated systems. The high-end segment is led by liquid-based cytology processors and blood smear maker-stainers, which are often integrated with consumables, staining workflows, laboratory information systems and downstream reading platforms.
