Carbon brushes for micro motors are sliding electrical contacts in brushed micro motors. They are mostly made of graphite-based carbon material and are mounted in a brush holder or brush grip, pressed against the commutator surface by springs. As the rotor rotates, the contact plates continuously switch, introducing electrical energy from the external power supply into the rotor windings and realizing mechanical commutation. They are also responsible for conducting current, suppressing sparks, heat dissipation, and wear self-compensation. Manufacturing Process and Market Trends:

The manufacturing of micro-motor carbon brushes begins with the purification and ash reduction of graphite powder, followed by sieving and batching. Graphite is mixed with copper or silver powder and trace amounts of lubricants and anti-wear additives in a controlled mixing cycle to prevent segregation. The mixture is then cold-pressed to obtain a brittle green blank, which is subsequently sintered in a protective atmosphere furnace at progressively higher temperatures to burn off the binder and form a conductive metal network. After furnace removal, the brushes are shaped, ground, grooved, and chamfered. They are then impregnated with oil or resin under negative pressure to stabilize the friction surface. Finally, the leads are riveted, springs are installed, and brush holders are fitted. A full batch inspection is conducted on resistivity, hardness, dimensions, wear, and contact voltage drop before the brushes are considered ready for shipment.

Globally, brushless technology continues to erode the low-end market share in consumer electronics, home appliances, and high-end power tools. However, it maintains its core market share in automotive auxiliary micro-motors, industrial micro-transmissions, and aftermarket replacements, while product competition is shifting from price-driven strategies to formula purity, low noise, low sparks, and consistent lifespan.
