A laminar flow hood, also known as a laminar flow clean bench or laminar air flow cabinet, is a localized clean-air workstation designed to provide a highly clean operating zone through unidirectional filtered airflow. The equipment is usually built as a metal cabinet structure containing a blower, prefilter, HEPA or ULPA filter, airflow diffuser, work surface, lighting system, control unit, and transparent front sash or side panels. Air is drawn through prefilters, pressurized by the fan system, and passed through high-efficiency filters to remove airborne particles and microorganisms. The filtered air then flows uniformly across the work area in either a horizontal or vertical laminar pattern, reducing contamination risk to samples, components, or processes. The equipment may be configured as horizontal-flow, vertical-flow, benchtop, floor-standing, suspended, or modular clean-air units. It is widely used in sterile pharmaceutical preparation, cell culture, semiconductor assembly, precision optics, microbiology, laboratory research, food testing, and hospital compounding applications.

The growth of the laminar flow hood market is mainly driven by biopharmaceutical expansion, cell therapy, semiconductor manufacturing, and laboratory modernization.
