A Three-phase Vacuum Circuit Breaker (VCB) is a critical switching and protection device used in three-phase AC power systems. It operates by using a high vacuum as the arc-extinguishing medium. When a fault such as a short circuit or overload occurs, or when switching is required, the contacts inside three vacuum interrupters (one for each phase) separate rapidly, generating an arc that is quickly extinguished due to the vacuum environment. Since vacuum contains almost no ionizable medium, the arc duration is extremely short, resulting in excellent interruption performance and long electrical life. Compared to oil and SF? circuit breakers, vacuum circuit breakers offer advantages such as no explosion risk, no environmental pollution, low maintenance requirements, and long mechanical durability. They are especially suitable for medium-voltage systems (typically 1kV?40.5kV) and are widely used in distribution networks, substations, industrial power systems, rail transit, and renewable energy integration, making them one of the most mainstream switching devices in modern power systems.

The industrial chain of three-phase vacuum circuit breakers can be divided into upstream materials and components, midstream equipment manufacturing, and downstream applications. The upstream includes key materials and components such as vacuum interrupters, copper-chromium contact materials, ceramic or glass vacuum envelopes, stainless steel housings, precision mechanical parts, and electromagnetic or permanent magnet operating mechanisms. The vacuum interrupter is the core component that determines performance and lifespan.
