Terahertz waveplates are phase delay plates in the terahertz band, usually made of terahertz birefringent materials of a certain thickness. This waveplate can produce a phase difference (or optical path difference) between two mutually perpendicular light vibrations, thereby adjusting the polarization state of the light beam. According to the difference in phase difference, terahertz waveplates are divided into 1/4 waveplates and 1/2 waveplates, which can produce phase delays of ?/2 and ? respectively.
