Polarization optical elements include half-wave plates and full-wave plates. Usually, phase retardation is used to generate or convert the polarization state of incident light, so that mutual conversion between linear and circularly polarized light can be achieved. Common polarization optical components polarizers and polarization prisms. As an optical filter, the polarizer is usually composed of optically functional multilayer films. The transmittance of light is directly related to its polarization state: usually linearly polarized light in a certain direction can pass, while light with a polarization direction perpendicular to it cannot pass, and will be absorbed or reflected to other directions. Polarized prism is a polarizing device made by the birefringence of a crystal. Whether natural light or polarized light passes through the polarized prism, it becomes linearly polarized light determined by the polarization direction of the prism. There are many types of polarization prisms, and the common polarization prisms include Nicol prism, Gran prism, Wollaston prism and Lox Hungarian prism. Polarizers are used in liquid crystal displays to control the polarization direction of light and realize the display of images; in optical communication systems, they are used to adjust the polarization state of optical signals; in biomedical fields, they are used to measure optical properties of biological molecules, etc.Polarizers are indispensable key materials in display technology. In liquid crystal display, the polarizer mainly plays a light switch, converting the scattered light emitted by the light source into polarized light, and coupled with the torsion characteristics of the liquid crystal molecules, it can control the light transmission and viewing angle range to form a display screen for light and dark generation. There are technical barriers to upstream core membrane materials, which are currently monopolized by Japanese companies and have extremely low market share in domestic companies. The polarizer is composed of a multi-layer film, and the PVA film is responsible for polarization and is the core film material of the polarizer. Polarizers are key materials upstream of the display panel. At present, the downstream terminals of polarizers are mainly used in liquid crystal display panels. Depending on the panel type, polarizers are mainly divided into LCD type and OLED type. Polarizers are usually required for LCDs. In OLEDs, a composite polarizer is usually required. At present, downstream terminal applications of polarizers are mainly LCD display panels, including consumer mobile phones, computers, LCD TV displays, as well as industrial control automotive electronics, medical devices, instrument displays, etc. In addition, polarizers are also used in 3D glasses, anti-glare lenses and other fields.
