A Non-Contact Torque Sensor is a torque-measurement device used in rotating shafts, drivetrains, steering systems, electric motors, gear reducers, and robotic joints. Its defining feature is that no sliding electrical contact is used between the rotating member and the stationary readout side, or that shaft torsion is sensed remotely through magnetic, acoustic, or optical methods. Their basic operation is to detect minute twist angle, surface strain, changes in permeability or magnetic field, SAW frequency shifts, or optical phase and speckle displacement, and then convert these into voltage, frequency, CAN, or industrial-bus outputs. These sensors are widely used in automotive EPS and powertrain systems, R&D test benches, end-of-line production testing, wind power, industrial machinery, medical devices, collaborative robots, and humanoid robots.
