A NIC chip, or network interface controller chip, is a core interface chip that enables computing devices to access wired Ethernet networks. It is mainly used to establish a stable data transmission channel between the host system and the external network. Through Ethernet control, host interface communication, and data movement mechanisms, this product completes the receiving, transmitting, buffering, scheduling, and basic processing of network data, allowing various terminals, industrial devices, and data center nodes to connect to networks reliably. As applications extend from basic connectivity to high-speed computing and cloud infrastructure, the functions of NIC chips have also expanded from traditional network control to higher-level capabilities such as protocol offload, virtualization acceleration, remote memory access, security processing, and programmable packet processing. The performance of NIC chips directly affects system bandwidth, communication latency, and host CPU load, making them key network semiconductors in servers, embedded devices, industrial networks, AI data centers, and related scenarios.

The technical differentiation of NIC chips is mainly reflected in processing capability and application level. Low- and mid-speed products place greater emphasis on stable connectivity, low power consumption, and cost control, making them suitable for device scenarios with relatively limited bandwidth requirements but high expectations for long-term reliable operation. High-end products focus more on high-speed transmission, low-latency communication, and hardware offload capability, and therefore need to provide stronger support for protocol processing, virtualization, security isolation, and data movement efficiency.
