A LiDAR Window is the outermost high-transmittance optical interface mounted on a LiDAR sensor, designed to protect internal emitter/receiver optics and electronics from rain, dust, stone impact, UV aging, and chemical exposure while preserving laser signal transmission with minimal attenuation and distortion. It is typically optimized for the LiDAR operating wavelength (commonly 905 nm or 1550 nm) and uses functional coatings?anti-reflection (AR), anti-soiling, hydrophobic/anti-fog, hard-coat/scratch-resistant, and weather-resistant layers?to improve transmittance, reduce reflections and stray light, and meet automotive-grade reliability under thermal cycling, salt spray, vibration/shock, and long-life durability requirements.

Upstream for LiDAR windows includes optical substrates and coating-related materials/process inputs: substrates such as optical glass (quartz, borosilicate, strengthened glass) or optical-grade engineering plastics (PC, PMMA, COP/COC), plus sputtering targets and thin-film materials, optical/structural adhesives, seals/gaskets, and cleaning/surface-treatment chemicals. Representative upstream suppliers (examples) include SCHOTT, Corning, and AGC for optical glass, and Covestro and SABIC for optical polymers. Midstream players manufacture and coat the window and perform opto-mechanical processing (cutting/grinding/polishing or injection molding, coating deposition, cleaning/inspection) with automotive-grade quality and reliability control, often co-designing with LiDAR OEMs on stray-light suppression and sealing structures.
