Compared to hollow-fiber and spiral-wound ultrafiltration membranes, tubular configurations offer wider flow channels, superior resistance to fouling, and easier cleaning and maintenance, making them particularly suitable for wastewater characterized by high levels of suspended solids, high viscosity, high oil content, and a high propensity for fouling.

The upstream sector primarily encompasses membrane materials, support materials, and module components. Membrane materials consist mainly of organic polymers such as PVDF, PES, PEK, and PAN, as well as ceramic materials like aluminum oxide, zirconium oxide, and titanium oxide. Module materials primarily include PVC-U, CPVC, GFRP, and stainless steel housings, along with epoxy resin or polyurethane potting compounds.
