PE antistatic masterbatch is a functional masterbatch made with polyethylene or compatible polyolefin carrier resin, antistatic active ingredients, dispersants, and processing aids. It is mainly used in PE films, flexible packaging, antistatic bags, protective films, industrial packaging, electronics packaging, agricultural films, foams, and blow-molded or injection-molded products. It reduces surface resistivity, static charge buildup, dust attraction, blocking, winding issues, and electrostatic discharge risks.

The upstream supply chain mainly includes PP homopolymer or specialty carrier resins, glycerol monostearate, fatty acid esters, ethoxylated fatty amines, amides, quaternary ammonium or polyether-type antistats, as well as antioxidants, dispersants, antiblocking agents, slip agents, and processing aids. Downstream users are mainly PE film, cast film, lamination film, antistatic bag, electronics protective film, industrial packaging film, PE foam, blow-molding, and injection-molding producers.

In 2025, global PE antistatic masterbatch production reached approximately 30 kilotons, with an average global market price is approximately $2,500-3,500 per ton.

PE Antistatic Masterbatch is a functional masterbatch based on polyethylene or compatible polyolefin carriers and compounded with antistatic agents and selected dispersion or processing additives; it is mainly used in LDPE, LLDPE and HDPE films, bags, industrial liners, electronics packaging, medical packaging, powder packaging, returnable containers, and injection- or blow-molded products to reduce static build-up, dust attraction, blocking and electrostatic discharge risks.

From a global industry perspective, PE antistatic masterbatch has evolved from a general film-processing additive into a functional modification material related to packaging cleanliness, process stability, powder discharge, electronics protection and safety compliance. Polyethylene is highly insulating, and static can accumulate during film winding, unwinding, slitting, bag making, powder filling, logistics friction and electronics packaging, causing film blocking, poor opening, dust attraction, powder residue, seal contamination or damage to electronic components. The value of antistatic masterbatch lies in improving the dispersion and dosing stability of antistatic components in PE systems, enabling films, sheets, bags and molded products to achieve more controlled surface-resistivity performance in continuous processing. Ampacet notes that static build-up can cause processing problems such as film-winding difficulty, powder agglomeration during transport and film adhesion during processing, while antistatic masterbatches can be used to reduce these issues; common antistats used in PE and PP include GMS, ethoxylated fatty acid amines and diethanolamides.

In terms of industry trends, PE antistatic masterbatch is moving toward higher efficiency at lower dosage, longer-lasting antistatic performance, lower migration, lower blooming, food- and medical-contact suitability, transparency retention, low odor and permanent antistatic systems. Conventional migratory antistatic masterbatches are cost-effective and fast acting, making them suitable for general packaging films, shopping bags, industrial bags and short-life PE products, but their performance can be affected by humidity, temperature, wiping, storage time and migration equilibrium. Avient states that temporary antistatic additives create a conductive network on polymer surfaces to dissipate electrical charges, and that most temporary antistatic additives migrate to the polymer surface and absorb atmospheric moisture. For electronics packaging, cleanroom films, pharmaceutical raw-material bags, premium industrial liners and long-term dust-prevention products, the market is shifting toward non-migratory or permanent systems.

The main growth drivers come from three areas. First, the large application base of PE films, bags, industrial liners, food packaging, e-commerce packaging and powder packaging continues to support demand for antistatic masterbatch as customers require better opening performance, dust prevention, anti-blocking, winding stability, clean sealing and appearance quality. Second, electronics packaging, cleanroom consumables, medical or pharmaceutical packaging and high-cleanliness industrial packaging require lower contamination, lower blooming, long-term static dissipation and stable surface resistivity, pushing products from ordinary migratory systems toward long-lasting, permanent and polymeric antistatic systems; public product information also shows that permanent antistatic masterbatch can be incorporated into polyethylene cleanroom films to improve powder discharge and reduce powder residue in sealing areas caused by static effects. Third, rising requirements for food contact, medical packaging, low odor, low migration, transparent packaging and recycled-material compatibility mean PE antistatic masterbatch must balance regulatory compliance, processing stability, optical properties, heat-seal compatibility and compatibility with recycled PE systems.
