Molecularly Oriented PVC Pipes, also known as PVC-O or PVCO pipes, are high-performance pressure pipes made from rigid polyvinyl chloride that has been physically stretched and molecularly oriented in the axial and circumferential directions. This orientation process rearranges PVC molecular chains into a more ordered structure, improving strength, toughness, impact resistance, fatigue resistance and resistance to crack propagation. Compared with conventional PVC-U pipes, PVC-O pipes generally provide thinner walls, lighter weight and larger hydraulic capacity at the same pressure class, and are mainly used in municipal water supply, rural drinking water systems, irrigation, pressure sewerage, reclaimed water networks, industrial water transport, mining pipelines and other pressure pipeline applications requiring corrosion resistance and long-term reliability. As infrastructure owners increasingly evaluate total lifecycle cost, energy efficiency and carbon footprint rather than only initial purchase price, PVC-O becomes more attractive in applications where hydraulic performance, pressure rating and installation efficiency must be balanced.
