Their supply chain starts with upstream materials, including optical-grade photoresists, UV-curable polymers, sol-gel materials, fused silica, glass, or polymer substrates; moves to midstream fabrication, where specialized equipment providers and manufacturers perform digital pattern generation, direct laser exposure or additive shaping, thermal/UV curing, surface reflow (in some processes), and precision metrology for lens profile, pitch, and surface roughness; and ends with downstream integration, where MLAs are diced, coated (e.g., AR coatings), packaged, and integrated into optical modules used in imaging sensors, AR/VR displays, LiDAR, optical communications, biomedical instruments, and advanced illumination systems, with OEMs and system integrators serving end markets in consumer electronics, automotive, industrial optics, and life sciences.
