Lithium-Sulfur Battery Electrolyte is a functional electrolyte specifically designed for lithium-sulfur battery systems. It is mainly composed of lithium salts, ether-based solvents, ionic liquids or functional additives. Its core function is to conduct lithium ions between the sulfur cathode and the lithium metal anode, while also participating in the regulation of the multi-step conversion reactions of the sulfur cathode. Unlike conventional lithium-ion battery electrolyte, Lithium-Sulfur Battery Electrolyte must not only ensure ionic conduction, but also suppress the shuttle effect caused by lithium polysulfides migrating back and forth between the cathode and anode. This helps reduce capacity fading, self-discharge and side reactions on the lithium anode, while supporting the formation of a more stable lithium metal anode interface, thereby improving cycle life, coulombic efficiency and safety of lithium-sulfur battery.

Its upstream raw materials mainly include lithium salts such as LiTFSI and LiFSI, ether solvents such as DOL and DME, ionic liquids, fluorinated ethers, lithium nitrate, film-forming additives, flame-retardant additives and high-purity solvents. The midstream consists of electrolyte manufacturers, which are responsible for formulation design, purification control, blending, filling, moisture control and electrochemical performance validation. Downstream, it is mainly used in aerospace, defense and military, portable power supply, energy storage system and other high-specific-energy lithium-sulfur battery applications, helping battery manufacturers address key challenges in lithium-sulfur systems, including polysulfide shuttle, lithium metal anode stability and insufficient cycle life.
