Laser Annealing Gases are high-purity gases and gas mixtures supplied to laser-annealing equipment in semiconductor and display manufacturing to create a tightly controlled atmosphere during laser heating, and?when excimer lasers are used?to serve as the laser?s discharge (resonator) medium. In practice, this ?gas? family often includes excimer laser gas mixtures and process-chamber ambient gases used around the wafer/panel during annealing to suppress oxidation and stabilize surface behavior.

Upstream raw materials are mainly rare gases (Ne, Ar, Kr, Xe, often with He as diluent) plus halogen or halogen-donor gases (commonly F? or HCl/Cl-chemistry) blended into excimer laser mixtures; in many excimer blends, neon is the dominant balance gas by volume. Process-ambient gases are typically sourced from high-purity N? (and other inert gases) and may include forming gas (H?/N?) depending on the tool/recipe. Downstream, these gases enable laser-anneal steps such as thin-film crystallization (LTPS for TFT backplanes), dopant activation, defect/void reduction, and silicidation/contact engineering, where ambient control is often critical for yield and electrical performance.
