Graphite anode materials for power batteries refer to the graphite-based anode materials used in power batteries (lithium-ion batteries) for new energy vehicles. Characterized by a layered crystal structure that enables reversible charge and discharge through the intercalation and de-intercalation of lithium ions, these materials are currently the most mature and commercially established anode materials for power batteries.

The upstream sector primarily encompasses natural graphite ore, artificial graphite precursors (such as petroleum coke, needle coke, and coal-based coke), conductive additives, binders, chemical reagents, energy sources (electricity and natural gas), and graphitization processing resources. The midstream sector involves the production and manufacturing of graphite anode materials, comprising processes such as raw material pretreatment, crushing and classification, granulation, carbonization, graphitization, surface coating and modification, and screening and inspection, resulting in products such as natural graphite, artificial graphite, and composite graphite. The downstream sector is the lithium-ion battery industry, where these anode materials are used to manufacture power battery cells that are subsequently integrated into the electronic systems of new energy vehicles.

In 2025, the global sales volume of graphite anode materials for power batteries is projected to reach 1.819 million tons, with a production capacity of approximately 2.6 million tons; the average selling price is estimated at $3,950 per ton, and the average gross profit margin is expected to range between 20% and 30%.

Compared to natural graphite, artificial graphite offers superior cycle life, rate performance, and safety, making it better suited for power batteries in new energy vehicles. Key areas of technological development include high-tap-density artificial graphite, fast-charging anodes, low-expansion anodes, and silicon-carbon composite anodes.
