Filling Compound for Optical Fibre Cables is a semi-solid thixotropic composite material widely used to fill the gaps in loose tubes, core voids, and the space around reinforcements within the fiber optic cable. Physically, it acts as a crucial 'stress buffer layer,' effectively absorbing external forces generated during cable laying, thermal expansion and contraction, or compression. This allows the fragile optical fibers to remain 'freely floating' within a relatively stable space, preventing signal loss due to micro-bending or mechanical damage. Its excellent temperature stability ensures uniform structural support and maintains the roundness of the cable cross-section even in extremely cold (non-hardening) and extremely hot (non-flowing) environments.

From a chemical protection perspective, the grease is the core barrier protecting the fiber optic cable from harsh external environments. Its main tasks are to achieve 'longitudinal water blocking' and 'moisture isolation.' By tightly filling all gaps within the cable, it physically blocks long-distance moisture penetration into the core, preventing internal corrosion caused by sheath damage. Meanwhile, high-quality grease has extremely low volatility and excellent chemical compatibility, neither generating hydrogen gas that causes 'hydrogen loss' attenuation in optical fibers nor corroding plastic sheaths or metal reinforcements. This long-lasting chemical stability ensures that optical communication lines can maintain high-quality data transmission capabilities for up to 20 to 30 years of service.

With the surge in demand for training large-scale generative AI models, a global construction boom in Intelligent Data Centers (AIDCs) is underway. Compared to traditional data centers, AIDCs, requiring extremely high bandwidth and low latency parallel computing environments, typically consume 3 to 5 times more fiber than traditional architectures. This trend has directly driven the large-scale application of high-fiber-count ribbon cables (such as 1728 cores or even higher). Due to the extremely compact structure and complex core gaps of ribbon cables, higher requirements are placed on the filling accuracy, lubrication performance, and long-term chemical stability of the grease, significantly increasing the consumption intensity of high-performance grease per kilometer of cable.
