Concrete Evaporation Retardant is a surface-applied construction aid used during the plastic stage of freshly placed concrete. It is typically sprayed onto the concrete surface during placing, paving, vibration and finishing, where it forms a monomolecular film or continuous protective film to slow down rapid surface moisture evaporation. Its core function is not to increase concrete strength or replace curing compound used at later stages, but to prevent excessive surface water loss under high-temperature, dry, windy or low-humidity construction conditions. By doing so, it helps reduce plastic shrinkage cracking, surface drying cracks, scaling and finishing difficulty, thereby improving concrete surface quality and early-stage crack resistance.

Its upstream raw materials mainly include surfactants, polymer emulsions, film-forming additives, water-retention components, solvents, water-based carriers, stabilizers and other functional additives. The midstream consists of concrete admixture and construction chemical manufacturers, which are responsible for formulation blending, production of concentrated or ready-to-use products, stability control and construction compatibility. Downstream, it is mainly used in factory floor, municipal pavement, bridge deck paving, airport pavement, port yard and other large-area concrete surface construction scenarios, especially in jobsite conditions with high evaporation rates and high risk of plastic cracking.
