VIETNAMESE PLASTIC RESIN AND SYNTHETIC RUBBER INDUSTRY

Primary plastic resin and synthetic rubber are important inputs for many industries, especially plastic and car industries. In the first 6 months of 2018, the production and consumption of synthetic rubber were respectively 7,590 and 7,665 thousand tons, of which, Asia Pacific was the area producing and consuming the highest amount in the world, accounting for about 53.% of production volume and 54.5% of consumption volume.

The plastic material production in Vietnam in 2018 was estimated at 927 thousand tons, of which the main production products were Poly acetal, polyete and primary epoxy resin; polycarbonates, alkyl resins, polyalyleste and other polyester, primary forms ...

It was estimated that in 2018, the domestic polymer consumption volume increased by 4.9% compared to 2017, (including domestic production, import and inventory of the previous period), mainly due to the increasing demand of Plastic grain.

In 2018, Vietnam's total plastic material exports increased sharply by 88.4% in volume and value compared to 2017. The total plastic material imports in 2018 increased by 11.6% and 19.6% respectively in value and output. Synthetic rubber imports 2018 rose 2% in comparision with 2017 while synthetic rubber exports declined 32.6% compared to 2017.
