Low Molecular Weight Nitrile Rubber is a low-molecular-weight butadiene-acrylonitrile copolymer supplied as a flowable or highly viscous polymer and used to introduce flexibility, toughness, adhesion, fatigue resistance, oil resistance and low-temperature performance into resin, rubber and plastics formulations. The market includes standard liquid nitrile rubber, carboxylated LNBR, carboxyl-terminated butadiene-acrylonitrile rubber, amine-terminated NBR, hydroxyl-terminated NBR and vinyl- or methacrylate-functional NBR.

The upstream chain is based primarily on butadiene and acrylonitrile, together with emulsifiers, initiators, molecular-weight regulators, functional monomers, end-capping agents, antioxidants and purification chemicals. Key product-control parameters include acrylonitrile content, molecular-weight distribution, viscosity, volatile content, terminal-group concentration and functional-group equivalent weight. Downstream buyers include formulators of structural and film adhesives, industrial coatings, joint sealants, composite matrices, thermoset molding materials, PVC compounds, friction materials and specialty rubber compounds. Procurement is normally conducted through annual framework agreements, approved-supplier arrangements, formulation-specific purchase orders and technical qualification projects. Customers commonly test the material in a complete resin or rubber formulation before approval, making supplier replacement slower than for conventional commodity rubber. Tianyuan Aviation Materials participates mainly in functional hydroxyl-terminated liquid nitrile rubber. Top 5 suppliers are estimated to control approximately 78% of global revenue. Demand is concentrated in China, North America, Europe and developed parts of the Indo-Pacific, where structural adhesives, high-performance coatings, composites, electronic materials, transportation components and specialty industrial formulations have established qualification and performance requirements. China has become increasingly important on both the supply and demand sides, particularly in standard LNBR, resin modification, friction materials and localized specialty grades.

Standard LNBR will continue to serve PVC modification, rubber plasticization, friction materials and general resin toughening, but this segment will face greater price competition as Chinese supply expands.
