BEIJING, March 20th, 2013 – GCiS China Strategic Research has published a report on the China market for neutral silicone sealants. The study finds that the market will continue to grow at around 10% in the next few years, driven by China's continued rapid pace of glass curtain wall construction and an increasing customer demand for high quality products.

The majority of neutral silicone sealant is used in the construction industry, with glass curtain walls accounting for the largest portion. Other major uses such as insulated glass manufacture and consumer applications also depend on this industry, while revenues from sealants used in industrial applications such as electronic components are growing but still only make up a small minority of the total.

The report features in-depth analysis of both structural and non-structural sealants in single component and two component configurations, and finds that the market is gradually shifting towards single component products.

The study also reports on suppliers' output as compared to capacity and reveals that companies in this industry have significant excess capacity, with utilization rates below 50% in some product segments. This contributes to a strong downward pressure on prices, especially at the low end of the market where competition is particularly intense.
